Scott Rees is the best agent I have ever used,
and I don’t make that endorsement lightly, as
I’ve used many. Disclaimer: I am a real estate
developer, and Scott happens to be a good
friend of mine. When it comes to business,
however, friends do not get a hall pass.
I am the difficult client. Demanding and uncompromising, I
never “settle”. I expect my agent to be knowledgeable, hard
working, and discover and fix problems before I ever even
learn about them. For this reason, I had reservations about
using a friend to find a home for my family, as I don’t wish
myself on anybody.
Turns out, it wasn’t a problem. Scott is that amazing blend of
two different people. Casually, he is easy going, funny, caring,
and just an all around good guy. But when he puts on his
real estate hat, he is focused, diligent, and the consummate
professional.
Scott quickly figured out what I wanted vs what I needed.
He was frank with me when my criteria were unrealistic. We
toured A LOT of houses. He also eliminated a lot of wasted
tours, by researching and asking the right questions before
we went.
After touring many, many, properties that I ultimately
rejected, I felt bad and said, “forget it, we aren’t going to
find it in this market, you don’t have to keep helping me
just because we are friends”. He laughed and said “This is
nothing, everybody gets this level of attention.” I believe him.
Eventually, Scott found me the perfect property. A house I
said wouldn’t work, in a neighborhood I said I couldn’t afford,
and it turned out to be the deal of a lifetime. Absolutely
perfect. All because he never quits, and becomes more in
tune with your needs then you probably are.
More importantly, after you make your offer is where Scott’s
talents really shine. There are a lot of pitfalls between offer
and close of escrow, and Scott’s detailed knowledge and
savvy advice are priceless in this market of multiple offers,
short closes, and onerous terms. Being a lifelong resident
of Silicon Valley, he really gets the overall market, and the
subtleties of the various sub-markets. Few others do, and
using him is a huge competitive advantage.
I rarely vouch for the services of others, but Scott Rees is one
person that I can unconditionally recommend. I consider
myself pretty savvy when it comes to real estate, but I
wouldn’t consider buying or selling a house without Scott Rees to guide me.
